  Overview:

Lancaster Laboratories has extensive experience in serving the Food industry and this includes the dairy, meat, processed food, fresh food and drinks industries.  We offer a one-stop-shop for our clients, offering all the advantages of an in-house laboratory but at a remote location.  We differentiate ourselves by the level of customer care we offer our clients. We encourage the development of strong working relationships and continuously and proactively look for new and better ways of ensuring that our clients feel staff are always available for information, help and support.  A 7 day service is available from our Food Laboratory.

   
 

Methods:
Lancaster Laboratories was Ireland’s first commercial microbiology laboratory to achieve INAB accreditation. Our scope of accreditation covers both classical and rapid microbiological methods including Listeria, Salmonella and E.coli 0157:H7 analysis using automated systems.

   
 

Technical Expertise:
Lancaster Laboratories offers excellent internal technical expertise.   We proactively review methods and client requirements and pride ourselves on providing a rapid response to unforeseen industry issues. We perform a large number of projects in our food laboratory each year and therefore have the capacity to deploy additional Analysts when needed and cross train to ensure we have the correct resources in-house before a project commences.

   
 

Accreditation and Approval Bodies:

  • The Food Laboratory is accredited to ISO 17025 by the Irish National Accreditation Board (INAB) – certificate 004T.
  • Inspected by the Department of Agriculture.
  • Inspected by the US Department of Agriculture.
  • Approved by the Department of the Marine.
  • Participation in external proficiency testing schemes to support confidence in the quality of results.
  • We perform comprehensive internal audits to ensure ongoing implementation of our quality policy. We assess the quality of the tests we performs and continuously monitor and improve our quality systems.
 
   
 

Microbiology Department services include:

  • Enumerative testing for food spoilage micro-organisms.
  • Full pathogen analysis including E.coli 0157:H7, Salmonella, Listeria, Campylobacter.
  • Chronobacter sakazakii on baby food and environmental samples.
  • Shelf life studies.
  • Hygiene studies including hand and equipment swabs.
  • Air Quality Monitoring.
  • Water Analysis, including compliance with the EU Directive on Drinking Water.
  • Analysis of customer complaint samples.
  • Supply of consumables including a range of swabs, sterile and plastic containers, settle and contact plates and air samplers.
   
 

Chemistry Department services include:

  • Nutritional analysis for food labelling purposes to meet EU food labelling requirements.
  • Wide range of tests associated with Quality Control, including nitrates, nitrites, free fatty acids, peroxide value, added water.
  • Water Analysis, including compliance with the EU Directive concerning Drinking Water.
  • Any analysis not performed in-house is seamlessly subcontracted to other approved laboratories. We completely manages this process so that service levels or turnaround times are unaffected.
