  Sampling and Testing Services

Lancaster Laboratories has extensive experience in serving Food companies. We offer a one-stop-shop for our clients together with all the advantages of an in-house laboratory but at a remote location.  We differentiate our service by the level of customer care we provide to our clients. We encourage the development of strong working relationships and continuously and proactively look for new and better ways of ensuring our clients feel staff are always available for information and support.

Sampling and testing programmes:
We have designed a comprehensive and informative sampling and testing programme, which is in line with Commission Regulation (EC) 2073/2005. It encourages retailers and caterers to set up a testing schedule that is used to validate and verify HACCP systems.  It helps retailers and caterers determine the necessary sampling plan and testing frequencies based on HACCP principles and other hygiene control procedures.

We have considerable experience in working in close partnership with retailers and caterers and have a dedicated team of fully trained Samplers who execute the sampling programmes.  We currently work with a large number of multiples, symbols and hotel groups performing microbiological analysis on a monthly or quarterly basis, or as requested.  Sample types include high risks foods such as coleslaw, cold sliced meat, salads, and also raw meats, environmental swabs and water. 

We recommend the same sample regime in each food premises (where a chain exists) so that information is consistent and results can be compared to achieve consistent standards in all food premises.  The sampler is responsible for rotating the testing schedule on each visit so that a wide range of samples is taken over 12 months.  The programme ensures that retail/catering personnel are spared any involvement in the management or the implementation of the programme.  Once the testing programme is agreed, Lancaster Laboratories takes responsibility for the management of the sampling programme, sampling, transportation, analysis and delivery of the results i.e. complete management of the service with no input or action required from retail/catering personnel.  Reports are issued via our web reporting system, which allows for trend analysis and searching criteria of reports.
